Latest project

I had some free time with a friend and decided to try a ruffle on the bottom of a skirt.  It was not as hard as I thought it would be.

A pretty pink polka dot skirt!

I have finally found a use for the polka dot fabric!  The comments really helped.

I had plenty of fabric, so I made two!  One for me, and one for a friend.

I traced it out of another skirt I had.

I did a little lining for the waist.  And I put in my first zipper ever!!

I'm so thankful for a new skirt!

Sewing

I've been doing a lot of sewing lately.  A lot.  I have made two skirts, fixed/re-made a bathing suit, finished an apron, and started on a dress in the last few days.  I've been playing around with some scraps too.   I'm sooooooo thankful for sewing machines!  I was thinking the other day that it would be so hard to sew a lot without a sewing machine.

I did make a dress for the recital with help from Kaliste.

I candled flowers and put them all around the hem of the dress.  Yeah, it took a while.  It was really fun though!

The Recital

Here are some pictures of the recital we had last Friday.

Their was eight piano students, and one voice student.

She has an amazing voice!

Best friends!

Daniel passed out roses:)

We had a great recital, and I'm looking forward to our next one!

This is it!

This is the fabric I've been talking about.

Any ideas of what I could do with it?  I have three yards.  I'm still not sure what to do, but I've been looking at different patterns/pictures.

A new addition to my closet!

I made a skirt a few days ago out of scraps that I had everywhere.

I love doing stuff like this, and it only took me about 2 hours.

I took a long strip of blue fabric about 5 in. long and zigzagged all around it, then I folded it over once and ran a basting stitch in the center of the strip.

I am already planning my next one!

Camille's Dress

Yes, I made another dress.  Camille and I had a photo shoot the other day.

Olivia helped me sew this dress.

This is a Sense and Sensibility pattern.

She is going to wear this dress for a recital we are having in a few weeks.  Hopefully we'll have pictures for that too!

A Concert

We went to a concert a few weeks ago.  It was a soprano singer.

She was amazing.

We had a flat tire before the concert, and some friends came to help us after the concert.  It was cold.

We got front row seats!

We had a wonderful time!

Another Dress!

A friend and I made two dresses.  Unfortunately, we only have pictures of one of them.

The sash was a little tricky. We had to decide if we wanted to have it as a shawl or a sash.

The sleeves were my favorite part!

We really enjoyed sewing this dress.  We made this dress for one of my friends birthday party.  The other dress was the same style, only the colors were purple, pink, black with pink flowers, and white.

Oh, and here are the rest of my dad's birthday pictures.

Okay, so he didn't turn 50 or 500. 500 is just because that's the only candles we had.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!  We had one of dad's favorite desserts, which is carrot cake.

I cannot believe spring is almost here!  We have plowed our garden twice, and are getting our seeds soon.  We were supposed to order our seeds a few weeks ago, but it's been a really busy month.

Soccer

Yesterday some friends and ourselves went to play soccer at a local field in town.

Yes, it was awesome.  There were people still arriving.   It began raining and was windy when we started, but we still played and had fun, despite getting soaked.

Oh, and yesterday was my dad's birthday!
We went to a restaurant and told the waiters that it was his birthday.  He was surprised.

It was a Mexican restaurant. :)  The sombrero was too small for Dad.

All night long it rained!

Okay, and this one is my favorite also.

I started out with making a skirt...

...and ended up with this!

My latest project is this dress.  Some people have said it doesn't look like a dress, just a skirt and shirt, but I cut off one of my old shirts, and used some fabric from a sheet that went on a bed. Not my favorite kind of fabric, but it works.  Camille and I had a photo shoot today, and I wanted to post this.    Thank you for editing Camille!  It is not finished yet, because it's a little too short for me.

My Sewing Machine

Here's a picture of my sewing machine that used to be my great grandmothers.

My great grandmother used to sew wedding dresses for people with this sewing machine.  I've never heard of the Koyo brand. She said it was a Japanese type.  It sews very well, and makes such a straight line!

Bathing Suite

This is a bathing suite that Olivia helped me make.

It is modest, comfortable, and was the easiest pattern I'd ever done.

You can find the pattern for this bathing suite at Fresh Modesty!!

Pictures!

Here is a picture of one of my favorite dresses that I made for one of my friends. It didn't turn out like it was supposed to, but I like it.

My dramatic sister! She's a great poser.
Okay, so the picture needs a little cropping. There is a seam in the waist, and it wasn't supposed to be there, but with the right kind of belt, it looks fine. I didn't use a pattern because I didn't have one, and I didn't feel like following one!

It's been muddy here at our farm. REALLY muddy. And it is still raining!

Can you tell it's been muddy? Some of that mess was when my brother helped a neighbor paint tar on walls. And yes, that is edited. I had fun with that!

My Blog Title

I've changed my blog title because I decided  that the blog is not going to be just about sewing.  That could get boring for y'all, and me.  If you don't have other creative things to post about, (like me) it's kind of hard seeing how I don't sew all the time, and I can't get pictures at the moment!  I'm going to be posting about my life on the farm too.

I haven't had time to sew lately.  Although I have sewn my brother's hat, I would like to find time this week to sew the Sense and Sensibility dress.

Projects I've been working on

I've been sewing lately and hopefully I'll get pictures of my fabric soon.  I got some adorable pink fabric with velvet black polka dots on it!  It was at a good price at Hobby Lobby.  I'm not sure what to make with it yet.  I'm thinking of a Pride and Prejudice-type dress with small puff sleeves.  I made a dress the other day out of a scrap piece of fabric.

I'm currently making two dresses.  I received the pattern a few days ago and have the fabric, I just have to find the time to sew them!  It is a Sense and Sensibility pattern.  It's been busy around here lately so it's hard to find time to sew.

Awesome fabric and Ribbon!

I found some awesome fabric! This is not actually my own fabric, I wish it were!

This one is creative.

I tend to look at ribbon when I'm in Hobby Lobby. I LOVE ribbon so much.

Lately I've been sewing a few dresses. I'm trying to take two bathing suits and make it into a bigger one, but I think that project will take a while.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! I've started a sewing blog and I hope you enjoy it!
